“BIRTH FROM THE DARKNESS”
In this chapter of the Conjunction series, titled “Heritage,” I explore the intersection of body, memory, and culture; a space where the human nervous system is not only a biological structure, but also a vessel for the accumulation, transmission, and reproduction of cultural heritage.
This series was formed during a period of rebuilding a new life—after a year of deep depression and continuous confrontation with inner darkness. The black background in these works is not merely a visual choice; it is a reflection of that psychological state—a void, heavy and infinite space that carries my lived experience within itself.
Within this context, patterns inspired by the Persian carpet—as symbols of history, identity, and continuity—are placed over a network derived from neural structures. This coexistence represents the internalization of culture; as if heritage does not exist outside of us, but is rooted in the deepest layers of our perception and being.
The technique used in this series is based on redefining “disruption” in the human visual system. This disruption becomes a tool for creation—an opportunity to break the boundaries of perception and reconstruct reality in a new form. In this process, the image moves away from mere representation and becomes a mental and sensory experience.
“Inheritance” here does not only refer to the past, but to a continuous process of regeneration. These works reflect a rebirth—a genesis that does not begin from zero, but from below zero. An experience that has repeated three times in my life: building, collapsing, and rebuilding oneself in the face of conditions that redefine everything.
This series was created in Vancouver—a city that itself is a site of cultural intersection and identity redefinition. In such a context, “Inheritance” emerges as a living and dynamic structure; something that not only shapes us, but also flows within us, accompanying us in the process of survive l and reinvention.
