The story unfolding in this collection tells of a Persian dancer who felt stifled in her home country of Iran. She made the decision to move somewhere she could explore life more freely even though it would mean isolation. Currently, this is Turkey. , I capture the unnamed dancer as I heard her story. Accompanied by the Torang (pheasant) she can be seen in her own process of rebirth. She is a refugee in process and in some small way, we can all feel cut off from our authenticity. How we come to terms with this may just result in ours. Islamic and Iranian banners are a symbol of the concerns of women living in Islamic countries and using birds as a symbol of freedom. Torang is one of six photo collections he created while living in Turkey.
